PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To ensure bench work quality control determination are carried out in accordance with GNPLC quality procedures and specifications for the attainment of high quality products

Work across our business with support from Brand Technical Centre in UK to deliver high quality product to our consumers


Leadership Responsibilities:

Carry out designated analyses promptly and accurately in line with GNPLC work procedure and ensure results are well-documented on-line (UNILAB), notebooks and on-line Kalamazoo and results sent to user department promptly.

Determination and reporting of analytical parameters, as appropriate and as specified. Working within guidelines to ensure that results are repeatable and aligned to other laboratories on an interchange basis.

Working with the appropriate parts of the supply function (as required) to assist them in delivering products of the highest quality in terms of content and presentation.

HND in Micro-biology option- (minimum education requirement)

On the job experience, having worked for 2 years in a laboratory environment.

Carries out the labelling operation of the packaging process and also oversees the coding of the bottles

Operates the pasteurizer machine as the case may be and also carries out change over on the machines

Optimize product quality, through continuous observation and attention to detail, delivering (RFT) Right First Time against the Global Finished Product Specification on quality and control parameters. Respond to non-conformances in a timely manner to keep process on track. Apply, record & share learning’s or (RCPS) Root Cause Problem Solving to prevent re-occurrence.

Manage materials, components and spares required by their plant and equipment – includes draw down stock from locally provided “bins” and be accountable for whatever stock is drawn down


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

HND Mechanical/ Electrical/ instrumentation field and ideally have an appropriate qualification in Brewing, Packaging, Engineering or Utilities in addition

Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience/competence in Operations, Maintenance, Process Control and Performance Measurement in a brewery, drinks or food manufacturing environment.

Demonstrate detailed understanding of Permit to Work system

Demonstrate understanding of teamwork principles, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance and problem solving.

High level of energy and commitment to team based achievement and high interpersonal effectiveness to develop & sustain robust relationships

  • We are looking to fill the role of Area Manager, Retail to join an effective & flexible field sales force demonstrating industry leadership in both volume driving & brand building activity. The role is responsible for overseeing the sales out (depletion) in a particular geographical area.

  • The role holder ensures consistent profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment, training and management of frontline field sales team.

  • The Area Manager, Retail will be responsible for developing strategies, objectives and action plans to achieve short and long term sales targets.

Top Accountabilities


  • Drive achievement of profitable volume/market share target for beer and spirit for the Area via delivery of Outlet Execution standards for the Area. Ensure RRS scheme within the area is fully deployed and standards maintained as per the RRS guidelines.

  • Ensures brilliant execution of customer marketing/marketing promotional activity by ensuring the right outlets are selected, agencies are adhering to our standards, constant review of what is working and on time in full delivery of reporting.

  • Fully understands the use of SFA, trains team on its usage and ensures all parameters are adhered to.

  • Coach and train team members 14 times a month in line with monthly activities checklist. Identifies training needs of TMs and WMs, while supporting TMs in the capability development of RSEs/SE’s and works with Capability team to build team’s capability and ensure a talent pipeline

Qualifications and Experience Required


  • A graduate with minimum 3 – 5 years’ broad experience in Sales gained across sales/consumer/customer marketing. A strong track record in Sales, preferably in more than one area. Particularly critical is previous experience of Field Sales or other customer facing roles.

  • A good understanding of all Diageo Way of Selling Capabilities and tools and how these interact together to deliver brilliant execution in Field Sales. Strong capability and able to coach others in Outlet Execution standards, building relationships as well as structured call, persuasive selling and brand passion. This role requires a strong understanding of how to champion responsible drinking at the outlet level.

  • High analytical

  • Good communication skills – written and verbal

  • Good IT skills

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Experienced driver with valid license

  • Previous experience of coaching/leading others and getting results through teams as well as good commercial understanding, strong numerical skills, a high level of computer literacy are important.

  • Previous experience of working with other parts of Sales and/or other functions is particularly valuable.

  • Strong strategic planning skills

Lead the multifunctional Reserve team to deliver breakthrough performance short and long term. Drives success across key Reserve business deliverables:- Strategy development, Commercial Planning, Performance (Full P&L responsibility).

  • An expert coach and trainer of both functional and leadership capability development. Able to instill luxury understanding and capability into the Guinness Nigeria Reserve team.

  • HND/University Degree in commercial or equivalent field.

  • Comprehensive commercial and financial decision making experience including channel profitability and targeted trade investment.
