The Company’s funding plan is adequate and diversified

The Company’s financial viability and cost structure are regularly analyzed and

appropriate measures undertaken to monitor and optimize resources in relation to the company’s operations and services provided.

A regular review of the Company’s competitive environment is made and appropriate measures are taken to increase the market share and ensure that the Company attains and retains market position as the leading consumer

finance company where the company plays.

Staffing

The CEO shall be responsible for the recruitment, selection and development of the executive team and ensures that:


The Staff Appointments, Development and Disciplinary Committees of

Management vet all staff matters that require the attention of the Board prior to submission to the Board.

Board decisions on staff are promptly implemented.

Management Committees meet regularly.

Staff motivation and loyalty are improved to minimize staff turnover.

The CEO shall ensure that:

Organizational culture is maintained and developed, including its values, the reputation in the market while taking into account the various stakeholders.

Develop and maintain contacts and association with other Consumer Finance

Companies, Commercial Banks, Microfinance Institutions, Donors and prospective/potential Investors and with their respective forums

Reporting and communication


The CEO shall ensure that:

The Board of Directors receives regular reports on the current state of business.

The Board of Directors decisions are implemented in a timely manner.

All the Company’s Divisions submit reports for the Board’s consideration regularly as the Board demands.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any relevant subject.

An MBA and/or a relevant professional qualification is also required.

Minimum of 12 years cognate experience, 5 of which must be at a top management position in a recognized Commercial Bank or Top Tier non-bank lending Institution.

Knowledge and insights of current trends in the consumer finance market and innate ability to create new businesses.

Must have expert-level competence in retail banking, consumer lending, payroll

lending and small business banking.

Must have experience in fund raising from DFIs, Commercial Banks and other investors

An appreciation of technology innovation in the lending space.

Job Title: Community Engagement Officer
Location: Nigeria
Summary


  • The community engagement officer will lead USIP’s efforts to create a Nigerian network of community facilitators.

  • The officer will identify a group of civic leaders, including youth, women and religious, and will support them through skills training to prepare, convene and facilitate intergroup dialogues aimed at resolving local conflicts and supporting USIP’s ongoing efforts in Nigeria.

  • This position reports to the Senior Program Officer for Nigeria (in Washington, D.C).

Job Responsibilities


  • Work with the DC-based Senior Program Officer and in-country team to design, manage, and implement activities in support of USIP’s Nigeria program;

  • Identify and screen civic leaders to join the network of community facilitators;

  • In coordination with USIP staff, conduct a needs assessment for skills, knowledge and practice among the selected community faciltiators;

  • In coordination with USIP staff, oversee the facilitation of a series of trainings on negotiation, participation, dialogue, and communication for the facilitators;

  • Manage the process of administering and monitoring small-grants to the facilitators to implement select intergroup dialogue activities;

  • Provide oversight in the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities of the facilitators network;

  • Build strong working relationships with citizen groups, community-based groups, and civil society organizations for increased coordination, collaboration and knowledge sharing;

  • Support research and drafting of publications (reports, briefing papers, etc.) and materials about the activities of the network of facilitators;

  • Represent USIP with NGO networks and government stakeholders and promote effective collaborations and partnerships;

  • Travel regularly (with USIP staff and alone) across Nigeria; including to parts of the country that may be considered insecure; to monitor the activities of facilitators and mobilize support for USIP’s work;

  • Build strong relations with local officials, community-based and civil society organizations and like-minded INGOs;

  • Conduct assessments and convene local roundtable discussions on the activities of the network of community facilitators to inform policy and practice; and

  • Perform other duties as required to further USIP’s mission and goals.

  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience in facilitation, mediation and negotiation at the community level.

  • English language fluency mandatory. Advanced proficiency in other Nigerian languages also preferred.

  • Extensive experience working and living in Nigeria;

Job Title: Senior Advisor

Summary


  • The Senior Advisor will provide strategic advice to grow USIP’s work in Nigeria and the broader Lake Chad Basin area.

  • Will work with the DC-based Senior Program Officer who leads USIP’s programming in Nigeria, to inform and develop medium-term strategy, advance program goals, and identify new opportunities.

  • Will provide oversight to coordinate USIP staff in Nigeria implementing programs focused on promoting inclusion, community security, and preventing election violence.

  • As needed, the Senior Advisor may be asked to travel within Nigeria or regionally.

  • This position will be based in Abuja with an expected duration of 12 months at 2 days per week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work with the DC-based Senior Program Officer, and in-country team to promote activities in support of USIP’s Nigeria program;

  • As needed, provide technical expertise to the design and implementation of USIP activities in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin area;

  • As needed, provide technical advice on request to the design of USIP program proposals or workplans.

  • Strengthen existing USIP partnerships with state governors and senior civic leaders;

  • Provide advice on building new or strengthening existing partnerships with government, security officials, civil society networks, and international non-government organizations;

  • Promote strong working relationships with the Nigerian government and the Lake Chad Basin Commission and security forces (including Multinational Joint Task Force-MNJTF) to advance USIP’s mission through strategic partnerships;

Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree in International Relations, Law, Political Science or related subject; Ph.D. preferred.

  • Minimum 14 years relevant full-time consulting or staff-level experience required, including work in active and recently active conflict zones;

  • Minimum 5 years managing international development, human rights, and/or peacebuilding projects and teams.

  • Deep Knowledge of Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin area particularly on issues related to the Boko Haram conflict; civilian security; and civil-military relations;

  • In-depth understanding of local conflicts in Nigeria and opportunities to resolve them;

  • Experience in Nigeria and/or conflict-affected regions of the Sahel and the Lake Chad Basin implementing programs engaging a broad range of stakeholders;

  • Interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, policy makers, local partners, US and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, and funders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of letters for dispatch. That is, scanning, photocopying, binding bulk documents and addressing;

  • Filling: filling of letters, projects and documents in their respective files at the Director’s office;

  • Flight Bookings and creating staff missions in SAP;

  • Providing logistical support in the workshop, setting up banners, registration desk, signing of meal vouchers, payment of per diema and eventually reconciliation of the accounts and payments;

  • Distribution of mails and documents within the office;

  • Purchase of office requisitions and store keeping.

  • Ensuring up to date records of all the items in stock;

  • Management of the office stores, ensuring all requisitions are issued and updated promptly in the prescribed excel spreadsheet;

  • Receive, scan and submit in Bill Tracking System (BTS) all financial documents for payment processing;

  • Back up for the Senior Director’s Secretary in case of absence from office;

  • Organizing Internal Meetings: organizing internal meetings in terms of room allocation, provision of tea, coffee, water and snack as well as welcoming/registration of participants. Informing the concerned parties like Security and Protocol about the coming of visitors for parking and protocols to be observed;

  • External Meetings: organizing external meetings, workshops, training, conferences and seminars. This entails getting quotations from hotels, doing a summary and forwarding to the organizers for necessary approvals; getting contracts signed by both parties; preparing materials for the workshop such as badges, printing programmes/agenda, presentations; sending invitation, calling and following upon confirmations;

  • Perform any other task as may be assigned

Requirements (including desirable skills, knowledge and experience)


  • Certification in professional Secretarial or Business Management or Office Management or Public Relations qualifications;

  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills;

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment and to function effectively as a member of various groups;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of French language will be added advantage.

  • Competence in the use of Microsoft standard software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). Knowledge of SAP is desirable.

  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in Secretarial and office management preferably with a multinational organization

  • Thorough knowledge and use of all relevant computer software and the ability to help organize data and information retrieval systems;

  • Good filling and organizational skills;

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership:

Provide effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all programs and services, developing a broad and deep knowledge of all program areas.

Prepare and submit an annual operational budget, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.

Ensure the continued financial viability of the country’s operational programs through sound fiscal management.

Working in partnership with the Bureau team, create strategic plans and implement new processes and approaches to achieve it

Partner with the Bureau team, in essential internal leadership activities (human resources, administration, and organizational planning).

Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against set goals for the organization

Provide management support, mentorship and direction to subordinates. Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence; bridge national and site level operations and support an open-door policy among all staff

Serve as client’s organization’s representative of the country program with implementing partners, private and public agencies, national AIDS programs, and major donor agencies. Represent client’s organization at meetings on HIV/AIDS issues, and maintains a wide-range of professional contacts with Government and non-governmental organizations.

Program Building:


Take the lead in identifying new opportunities for program growth in the country

Coordinate the development of annual work plans and budgets

Ensure that all programmatic partners contracts and MoU’s are up to date

Develop/improve and implement standard operating policies and systems in relation to procurement, supply chain and logistics management and assets management.

Identify polices and standard operating procedures that are required for efficient and effective performance of programs

Participate in proposal preparation, in collaboration with client’s organization’s Corporate Headquarters and Africa Bureau Secretariat, including field assessment, writing, and negotiations with donors, identification of partners, and preparation of proposals, logical frameworks, work plans, and detailed budgets.

Ensure that client’s organization’s Global Program Policy and Procedure Manual is clearly communicated, implemented and adhered to.

Generate regular country program reports for client’s organization’s Corporate Headquarters, Africa Bureau Secretariat and donors as required.

Keep a— of HIV/AIDS best practices/resources and passes these resources to line managers and field staff.

Work with the Finance and budget departments to ensure financial information enables strategic budgeting and monitoring of financial performance vs program

Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities

Work closely with the finance team and Managers in the budgeting process, mentor and support staff in this area

Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications.


External Relationship Development:

Manage and cultivate existing relationships with funders and partners to secure and expand revenue streams.

Publicly represent client’s organization’s with the media and external constituency groups including community, governmental, private organizations and NGOs

Undertakes other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Bureau Chief


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Includes direct supervision of the following Managers; Medical Director, Operations Manager, Prevention Program Manager and any others as will be defined in the Organogram.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Administration or Social Sciences Degree with more than 10 years working experience

Must have a Master of Public Health or relevant Master of Science or Business Management degree and a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in managing public health/international development programs.

Minimum of 7 years of field experience in managing public health / international development programs.

Highly skilled in HIV/AIDS programming, preferably within an African context, funded by major donors, such as the U.S. Government, World Bank, Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria, corporations, foundations, etc.


OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven skills in management, supervision, leadership and networking, with at least 3-5 years’ supervisory experience.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form (High Skills).

Must be culturally sensitive and able to work in a wide variety of settings and cultures.

Computer and Internet skills, including word processing, database, presentation software and project management software. Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project is preferred.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry (Intermediate Skills).

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints  from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Travel Expectancy:

Ability to travel at least 12 weeks per year to operations sites as assigned.
