Main Purpose

Accountabilities



  • Under supervision of the Project HR Manager managing personal files in order to ensure accuracy, compliance and on time payments.

  • Updating the HR database and personal files to facilitate HR processes management.

  • Updating Social security Tax office files in order to meet legal requirements including specific amendments when necessary in order to ensure local labour and fiscal law compliance

  • Preparing employment contracts in conformity with legal requirements including specific amendments when necessary in order to ensure local labour and fiscal law compliance.

  • Preparing monthly pay slips for all staff, editing and updating the necessary data, in order to ensure the punctuality and accuracy of staff payroll.

  • Following up of all expiring rental contract dates and inform the Administration Manager in order to leave enough time to arrange a renewal or look for some other alternative

  • Making all administrative information available to the staff (posting, meetings, etc.), supporting the Project HR Manager in translating documents into local language and assisting in meetings upon request.

  • Additional HR/ Admin tasks delegated by the Project HR Manager.


MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities



  • Execute Administrative and legal related tasks, checking payroll calculations and update personal files in order to ensure accuracy, compliance and on time payments.

  • Supervise MSF premises in order to ensure working conditions are in conformity with legal requirements.

  • Update the HR database and personal files to facilitate HR processes management

  • Prepare and archive formal certificates and other HR documents when needed in order to facilitate hiring processes.

  • Follow all movements of personnel from/to mission/project/home and all related formalities in order to facilitate accommodation and relocation.

  • Supervise domestic team and take care of accommodation facilities, maintenance and related services for international and relocated staff in order to ensure MSF standards of living. Support line managers in recruitment and hiring process,

  • Communicate to and brief new national employees on HR policies and regulations in order to facilitate on boarding processes.

  • Registers applicants to training and follows-up with HR Manager.

  • Prepare all correspondence with local authorities (i.e. tax offices, ministry of labour) in order to maintain flow and soft relationships

  • Support Fin Assistant for back-up of Fin accountabilities.


Requirements



  • Education: Desirable, certificate or diploma in Business, HR Management or similar education

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as HR Assistant or in a similar related jobs

  • Languages: English and Hausa, Mandra, Kanuri.

Background
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is implementing the Flexible, integrated and timely response to nutrition and WASH-related humanitarian needs in Borno stateÂ� (FIT Response) from April 2019 to March 2022. The overall aim of the project is to contribute towards the reduction of morbidity and mortality related to under nutrition amongst boys and girls under five years in the whole of Borno State as part of the response to the ongoing humanitarian situation in the northeast region of Nigeria. In line with the core mandate of UNICEF, the underlying principle of the project is the survival, protection and development of children of Borno state. With funding from DFID, UNICEF is collaborating with non-government organisations, civil society organisations, government’s ministries of health, state primary health care development agencies and other pertinent state entities to provide integrated nutrition specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions to the most-at-need populations in Borno state.


UNICEF, through the project, is collaborating with the sector partners and the government to detect and respond to emerging/deteriorating nutrition-related crises in Borno by establishing an agile nutrition surveillance system which will give more frequent information at lower levels such as LGAs and wards. The objective of the surveillance system is to provide timely information on the nutritional situation of the population as well as the status of factors that influence nutrition; to be able to detect and respond to nutrition-related emergencies timely. It will also help the nutrition sector partners to monitor progress, assess coverage of services, predict nutrition situation based on trends, monitor programs and evaluate their effectiveness. The FIT surveillance system will build on existing systems and incorporate a sentinel surveillance mechanism. The system will collect information both on nutrition-specific variables like SAM admissions as well as nutrition-sensitive variables like outbreak of diseases. The data collected will be collated and analysed using innovative technologies mobile/SMS-based technology and web-based analytics to facilitate real time reporting on selected predictive indicators for early detection and response. Alert levels will be built into the system and whenever the alerts are triggered, small scale rapid assessments will be conducted to confirm the alerts with the goal of responding within few days or weeks if a crisis is confirmed.


The major output of the surveillance system is a web-based data analytics/visualization portal with interactive user interface whose link will be shared to stakeholders who would use the surveillance data for informed decision making.


Justification Purpose of Assignment



  • In the context of the stated background, the project is expected to develop, publish and constantly maintain a web-based data analytics/visualization portal for the dissemination of the information from the surveillance system.

  • Working under the overall supervision of the Chief of Nutrition in UNICEF Abuja CO, under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Information Management Officer and in close coordination with the Innovation Specialist, the consultant is expected to design, publish, update and maintain a web-based data analytics/data visualization portal, with support from the Innovation Specialist and the FIT project team in Abuja and Borno.


Major Tasks to be Accomplished
The consultant, with support from the FIT team is expected to:



  • Develop and publish an indicative simple visualization page for the first two rounds of surveillance data collection while developing the fully functional visualization webpage.

  • Develop a data management system compatible with ODK integrated into the website and embed RSS, discussion forum and social media.

  • Train the FIT project team on how to manage the website including how to conduct basic troubleshooting

  • Degree or equivalent in Communication, IT, Web Design Programs, data visualization or related field

  • Ability to produce written products to a very high standard in English;

  • More than 5 years relevant experience in developing, managing and troubleshooting websites, especially those with interactive features; (candidates to share links to similar web-based projects s/he has led the development or contributed significantly to)

  • Assess the requirements of the FIT surveillance data visualization website or portal based on the defined objectives as presented by the FIT Nutrition team.

In addition, s/he will make recommendations for backup/restore plan, ease of accessibility, user- friendliness, and ease of maintenance/update.

Background
Since 2009, violent attacks on civilians by the armed group Boko Haram have left widespread devastation in northeast Nigeria. At least 17,000 people have been killed and approximately two million people are displaced within Nigeria. More than 14 million people in northeast Nigeria today are affected by the crisis caused by Boko Haram. Out of these, seven million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Around 92 per cent of displaced people reside in either informal settlements or with low-income host communities, creating a strain on already limited resources. The remaining 8 per cent live in more formalised camps. NRC has been in Nigeria since 2015.


Purpose



  • The purpose of the Advocacy Manager position is to ensure the implementation of advocacy activities in Nigeria.

  • The position is based in Abuja with 50% travels to Maiduguri and Northern Nigeria


About the Role



  • The Advocay Manager reports to the Country Director and is advised by the Regional Communication and Advocacy Specialist

  • The Advocacy Manager provides overall leadership, management and strategic direction to NRC’s policy and advocacy work in Nigeria.

  • S/he is responsible for identifying priority protection concerns for advocacy, strengthening the incorporation of advocacy into all aspects of NRC’s activities and guiding NRC’s advocacy messaging to promote an improved in collaboration with the Protection coordinator protection and humanitarian response environment in Nigeria.

  • Identify and coordinate NRC’s advocacy response to prioritised issues both within the country and internationally

  • Develop and implement country-specific advocacy strategy, aligned to overall country strategy and support the development of the advocacy part of program strategies.

  • Ensure advocacy coherence and reinforce effective synergies between programmes and advocacy by working closely with programme staff to integrate advocacy into programme planning and implementation.

    Job Description



    • KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is looking for a Research Coordinator for a short term assignment for the TB REACH Nomadic pastoralist’s zoonotic TB project


    Purpose of the Assignment



    • KNCV aims to generate a solid evidence base for the above described new tools and interventions as they are implemented in test sites. Across the 3 aforementioned North Easter Nigerian states, there are approximately 20 GeneXpert sites that will be sending samples over a two month period to Yola for this study. This will require coordination, validation, intake and further processing with additional testing at Yola. Your work will require close coordination with the Technical Officer of this project, and collaboration with the local stakeholders including the NTP and acting CBOs in the project.


    Activities within the Assignment



    • Develop project plan for implementation of the research protocol;

    • Become familiarized with the materials and tools from the operational research protocol;

    • Based on the approved research protocol and guidance from KNCV, train data collectors (one at each GeneXpert site) on requesting consent, administering and entering a one page questionnaire into a smartphone or tablet, coordinate collection of sputum samples for further testing at Yola;

    • Organize and support data collection;

    • Validate data received from studies;

    • Ensure the confidentiality of the study participants and data collected will be maintained

    • Ensure seamless flow of work in Yola TB reference Laboratory including sample reception after working hours.

    • Participate in scheduled results dissemination activities;


    Reporting Channels:



    • The Research Coordinator reports to the KNCV Nigeria Technical Officer.


    Timeframe:



    • Short term assignment from mid-October 2019 until January 2020 with possibility to extend  by 1-2 months pending project continuation and funding.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    The Project  Officers will provide a full range of  technical and project support to the Lagos State technical team including:

    • Assist in developing and implementing detailed action plans for activities

    • Support the State Coordinators to  develop and review technical resource materials (e.g., training materials, SBCC plans, strategy documents, job aids) and programming tools to support meeting project objectives

    • Work with administrative and finance staff to plan and organize logistics for training and other events

    • Support the State Coordinator to carry out administrative duties including preparing and managing schedules, official correspondence and follow up, tracking budgets and managing cash advances

    • Contribute to communication, advocacy and knowledge management tasks including documentation and program report writing

    • Support the technical team in capacity building through trainings and on-site mentoring activities

    • Plan and carry out supportive supervisory visits to a local intermediary organization (IO) and network providers using developed checklists
