    Job Description



    • Study blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired and plan sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed

    • Match materials for color, grain or texture

    • Set up and operate various woodworking machines and hand tools

    • Sand and scrape surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing

    • Dip, brush and spray assembled furniture with protective or decorative materials

    • Design and craft individual pieces of furniture

    • Restore antique items of furniture

    • Provide consultation or advisory services to clients on design creation

    • Wood sourcing from specialist

    • Perform site installation


    Requirements



    • Minimum of High School Diploma with required further computer trainings

    • Minimum of 3 years working experience as a furniture maker

    • Must be able to produce furniture pieces

    • Ability to work with little or no supervision

    • Ability to use AutoCAD and Excel is a plus

    • Must reside in Port-Harcourt

    Job Description



    • Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specification of outputs and plans the steps to be taken to complete the project in due time;

    • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping;

    • Select appropriate machines and position or load materials needed for a job;

    • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues;

    • Ensure the output is consistent with the specification;

    • Setup, adjust and operate all of the machines and tools of the organization;

    • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines;

    • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages;

    • Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment so as to remove grease, rust, stains and foreign matter;

    • Program computers and electronic instruments required to ensure appropriate output;

    • Stay informed on industry trends and machineries and their usage;

    • Any other duties assigned.


    Requirements



    • Minimum of High School Diploma

    • Minimum of 2 years proven experience as a machinist in the furniture making industry

    • Possess knowledge on how to operate spindle machine and surface planning machine

    • Ability to read blueprints and manuals

    • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items

    • Ability to use Autocad and Excel is a plus
