POSITION SUMMARY

TGI is seeking to hire young and talented candidates in Finance, Engineering, Agriculture (seed technician, Agri-inputs sales, CSR, General Business Discipline (HR, sales, supply chain, marketing, strategy, business development) across different locations in Nigeria through her 2018 Management Trainee Programme schedule to commence in Q1 2018

The Management Trainee will be responsible for working alongside managers and accepting delegated responsibilities and duties with the goal of eventually becoming a manager. The candidate will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and expertise.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Acquiring knowledge of all the standards, procedures and methods that are needed for departmental duties and performance.

Gain useful knowledge about the company and business unit in order to set up policies to improve the company.

Report market activity to management by monitoring and analyzing competitive price lists and products.

Identify trends and recommends proactive or remedial action to manage business situations.

Work with and through management to develop and implement actions that protect company assets and profitability

Responsible for working alongside managers and accepting delegated responsibilities and duties plan and direct the work of the organization

Receives training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide greater promotional opportunities.

Learn different functions, operations, management viewpoints, company policies and practices.

Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.

Adhere to guidelines of trainee program, achieve a passing score in all areas of the management training program in order to continue in the program

Attend trainings, take tests, create projects and make presentations

Performing additional duties which are often assigned to management trainees by a particular company apart from the above mentioned duties


QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) credit grades in WASC/GCE/SSCE including Maths, English

Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc) Minimum of Second Class Honours (Upper Division)

MBA/M.Sc/MA from top universities

0 – 3 years work experience

Job Description

Required Skills


  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with an additional 7 years’ experience to the required minimum above. Fields of discipline and experience will be from area such as Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Business Management, and/or Entrepreneurship Development.

  • Minimum of 10 years of regional/ international experience in implementing large donor-funded agricultural value chain activities, economic growth, trade, value chain competitiveness, resilience, crop/agricultural development, and/or food security programs. Preference will be given to those with considerable working experience in rural agricultural areas in West Africa, notably northern Nigeria and the Sahel.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing programs aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches and incorporating the strengthening of the resilience of smallholder farmers and livestock keepers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest developments in advancing good/best practices in value chain development (i.e., USAID’s value chain and facilitation approach) that support farmers and reaches women, youth, and the poor, creativity, willingness to innovate, think systemically and design catalytic.

  • Track record of project design and project implementation capacity building working with host governments, local private sector, and other related players.

  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors or multiple interests to achieve common goals.

  • At least five years of progressively responsible and supervisory experience.

Job Description


  • The COP is responsible for providing overall vision, leadership and guidance of the project internally with project staff and externally with USAID, project communities, host governments (both Federal and at State level), other donors and stakeholders.

  • The COP will lead the IFDC’s team and serve as the primary point of contact with USAID with regard to day-to-day activity implementation and management matters relating to the contract.

  • The main duties of the COP will be overall project planning, implementation and management.

  • The COP must ensure the smooth functioning and coordination of all project functions: program quality development and implementation; project finances and administration, outreach and reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

  • The COP will seek to ensure the technical quality and appropriateness of the technical services provided through the project and the quality of the results generated.

  • The COP will have technical and management responsibility for all project personnel and be the IFDC representative to USAID, relevant ministries of the Federal Government of Nigeria and State Governments, other donor, private companies, technical agencies and other participating organizations as required.

  • Given the need to establish overarching relevance of innovative community-based resilience building and household food and nutrition security both for conflict-affected states, the COP is expected to deploy relevant knowledge and skills-set that will increase this project’s sphere of influence to enable it have a systemic impact on food security and agriculture value-chains in ways that contribute to building the social protection and safety nets of vulnerable households and enhances their resettlement and reintegration in affected communities.

  • The COP will have overall responsibility for assuring that all assistance provided under the cooperative agreement, whether by international or local experts/personnel, is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to be addressed; and for adequately managing and supervising the work of all experts/personnel provided under the agreement.

  • The COP will be the primary point of contact for information on the progress and current status of all activities under the contract and will establish appropriate mechanisms to ensure that activity progress and specific implementation concerns are regularly and promptly reported.

  • The COP will manage the preparation and presentation of proposed implementation plans and all reports.

Required Knowledge, Experience and Skills


  • At least 10 years of experience successfully managing complex, results based, international rural agricultural development and resilience programs (implementation, logistics, budget, staffing) funded by USAID or other international donors.

  • At least 5 years of prior USAID-COP experience on complex projects is required.

  • Experience working in West Africa preferably Nigeria and other parts of the Sahel strongly desired.

  • Master’s degree in agriculture or related field required.

  • Demonstrated ability in the concepts, principles, methods and techniques of delivering training, technical assistance and extension services for resilience, rural development and social protection.

  • Demonstrated skills in effectively collaborating with host governments, regional institutions, donors, UN agencies, other USAID projects, local organizations, private companies and other partners.

  • Ability to successfully manage and develop staff in a multi-state setting as demonstrated by past experience.

THE COMPLEX

THE POSITION

The Investment officer will to originate, develop and lead the due diligence  approval and financial closure of Financial intermediation projects as well as provide technical support and inputs to diverse areas of financial inclusion.

The incumbent will work within broad policies and objectives with limited supervision for critical tasks.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Division Manager (s) – Investment Officers will:


Project Development and Processing:

Liaise and coordinate with other Investment Officers and Bank staff in the origination of a good quality investment pipeline.

Build and maintain strong relationships with other departments, clients, banking and multilateral partners and government officials to develop specific investment opportunities;

Prepare project appraisal reports for presentation to the department, review committees, senior management and finally to the Board of Directors.

Prepare and process through to approval, disbursement and implementation, technical assistance proposals

Coordinate with sector colleagues, the internal approvals to proactively find pragmatic solutions to emerging/specific sector challenges.

Develop investment promotion strategies in Africa , including targeting potential investors and promoting AfDB’s products and services proactively;

Work with legal department to ensure that all deals have appropriate legal documentation and that financial close is achieved, and hand over projects to portfolio management staff.

Design specific innovative transactions, projects and initiatives:


Undertake the work on aspects of investments and industrial development and aligns them with institutional objectives.

Work with regional teams/country offices to design and implement sector development support programs;

Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions, with a strong focus on credit and asset quality (include processing mandates, due diligence, negotiating term sheets and other documentation, syndications and Board approval);

Provide support to regional industry and portfolio teams in processing and supervising regionally managed projects.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field;

Have a minimum of Four (4) years for PL 6; Five (5) years for PL 5; Six (6) Years for PL 4 and Seven (7) Years for PL 3 professional experience in project finance, banking, consultancy, with specific experience in Africa;

SSHE COORDINATOR


MAIN FUNCTION

SSHE coordinator performs key role in developing a Turnaround (TA) safety plan and ensuring all Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) aspects of the turnaround is addressed.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop TA SHE training on safety procedure, practices for the plant as well as contractors

Set up system for implementing the plan including hardware, software, data flow, analysis techniques and reporting format

Support to program/project development and planning:


  • Support the preparation/design and conduct/update of situation analysis for the child protection programs/projects and/or sector to ensure that current comprehensive and evidence based data on child protection issues are available to guide UNICEF’s strategic policy advocacy, intervention and development efforts on child rights and protection and to set program priorities, strategies, design and implementation plans.

  • Establish specific goals, objectives and strategies and implementation plans for the sector/s using results-based planning terminology and methodology (RBM). Prepare required documentations for program review and approval.

WASH TECHNICAL OFFICER

As part of the emergency response, one of the main focus for NRC in the coming months will be the provision of durable solutions for conflict affected populations including IDPs, returnees and the local communities in Borno, Adamawa and surrounding displacement affected population in the north-eastern states. NRC is therefore looking for a WASH Technical Officer in our Field office in Monguno – Nigeria. The purpose of the WASH Technical Officer is day to day implementation of the WASH Technical support functions portfolio. The WASH Technical Officer – Monguno reports to the WASH Coordinator based in Maiduguri.

QUALIFICATIONS

Higher diploma in Civil or Water Engineering or Public Health (BAC+5) minimum

Minimum 3 years’ experience from working with wash projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.

Experience from working with social work and/or with distribution of humanitarian assistance is an advantage.

Previous 2 years work experience in community based Water and Sanitation programs; Work experience with an INGO is desirable

Must have knowledge of emergency Water supply, Hygiene, Sanitation requirements and protocols

Familiarity with international minimum standards of Water and Sanitation delivery (i.e., SPHERE) is an advantage

Excellent communication skills – written and spoken – in English required.

Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and Kanuri preferred)

Must be willing to work as a team member, take direction, and share technical skills with colleagues and counterparts

Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required,

Familiarity with AutoCAD, GPS, Arc GIS and Google Earth is strongly desirable

WASH TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

LOCATION 
Dikwa, Borno State


As part of the emergency response, one of the main focus for NRC in the coming months will be the provision of durable solutions for conflict affected populations including IDPs, returnees and the local communities in Borno, Adamawa and surrounding displacement affected population in the north-eastern states. NRC is therefore looking for a WASH Technical Officer in our Field office in Monguno – Nigeria. The purpose of the WASH Technical Assistant is to support the Field office in the day to day implementation of the WASH Technical support functions portfolio. The WASH Technical Assistant reports to the WASH Officer based in Dikwa – Borno State.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines and donor requirements;

Coordinate the WASH activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans;

To assist the WASH Officer in all aspects of WASH programs planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;

To assist in the identification of WASH community needs;

To develop technical specifications and bills of quantities (BOQ) for works;

To assess the WASH training needs of the community and assists in the development of appropriate training materials and plans;

Conducts water quality testing and sanitary inspection at water points;

Provides technical assistance to the WASH Officer and local counterparts on issues of water and sanitation information and communication strategies;

Assists in the establishment, and training of water point committees as well as monitoring their performance;

Assists in the compilation of weekly and monthly WASH reports, program documents, project proposals, and budgets.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


WASH infrastructure construction;

Hygiene promotion within IDP and Host communities;

Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities;
