A Development Organization is seeking applications from qualified Nigerian nationals for the following position:
STTA SOUND ENGINEER AND INSTALLATION ENGINEER
Location of Position: Maiduguri, Borno State
Position Start Date: Immediately
POSITION SUMMARY:
The STTA Installation Engineer will oversee, guide and participate in the installation work of a radio transmitter and other equipment meant for broadcasting. He or she will also be responsible for repairing/maintenance/installation of equipment utilized in RF transmission under the supervision of engineering department manager of the station. It is the responsibility of the installation Engineer to ascertain the working condition of all equipment and guide staff on safety and precautionary measures. He/she also ensures that all equipment is environmental friendly before installing them to avoid hazards to human health and decide timeframe for maintenance based on the manual provided by the manufacturing company.
Reporting & Supervision:
The installation Engineer will report to the State Program Manager (SPM) and the Community Development Facilitator (CDF) in Borno.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly after installation.
Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Monitor, track, and supervises the installation to ensure time, costs and quality are in line with approved procurement requirements.
The installation Engineer ensures that all equipment are properly installed and the operators adhere strictly to their operational guidelines and standards.
Undertake any additional tasks as specified by the State Program Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of OND/HND in electrical electronics or their equivalent
5-10 years’ experience installing/maintaining/repairing radio transmitting equipment
Knowledge of high power solid-state FM transmitters
Knowledge/understanding of RF transmissions systems.
Working knowledge and understanding of digital test equipment
Knowledge of electrical systems, transfer and switches.
Thorough understanding of analog, AES and composite audio standards
Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations pertaining to broadcast compliance
Familiarity with microwave STL installation and maintenance
Prior experience with USAID or US Government funded projects.
Evidence of previous work undertaken in any Radio station

It is the responsibility of the sound Engineer to ascertain the working condition of all studio equipment and guide staff on safety and precautionary measures. He/she also ensures that all equipment are environmental friendly before installing them to avoid hazards to human health and decide timeframe for maintenance based on the manual provided by the manufacturing company.

The sound Engineer will report to the State Program Manager (SPM) and the Community Development Facilitator (CDF) in Borno.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Controlling operations of all studio equipment such as the console, mic, deck
Watches and gauges function indicators to make sure a machine is working properly after installation.
Synchronize and equalize prerecorded dialogue, music, and sound effects with visual action of motion pictures or television productions, using control consoles.
Regulate volume level and sound quality during recording sessions, using control consoles.
Undertake any additional tasks as specified by the State Program Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of OND/HND in electrical electronics or their equivalent
5-10 years’ experience in sound or studio management
Adequate Knowledge of Digital studio management.
Knowledge/understanding of RF transmissions systems.
Working knowledge and understanding of digital test equipment
Knowledge of electrical systems, transfer and switches.
Thorough understanding of composite audio standard
Familiarity with microwave STL installation and maintenance
Prior experience with USAID or US Government funded projects.
Evidence of previous work undertaken in any Radio station
